Lilirella and the Handsome Prince(1)

网友投稿  2022-03-20  互联网

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Lilirella. She was very lucky and lived with her rich and kindly relatives, aunty Lucy, uncle Clyde and her young cousin, Ralph, a small boy with a long nose, black hair and a passion for eating cheese. They were very kind to her and paid for her education at the Fairy University of Crystal Island.
Every day her servants woke her up and carried her to the bathroom where she soaked herself for one hour in fresh spring water that was scented with jasmine, frangipani and honeysuckle. When she had finished bathing, her maidservant helped her to select the finest garments to wear for the day, and then dress.
However, today was her day off from having to be a princess and she had planned for her best friend,
Olive, to come around and sit with her by the swimming pool to relax and take turns doing each other’s nails and hair.
Olive had once been a very unpleasant and mean girl, and it was well known throughout the land that she had once stolen Ms Li’s globe and punched Wang Bing on the chin, but after all the trouble she experienced, she decided to change her ways. Her mum paid for her to have anger management lessons and how to become nicer to people. It was a rocky road at first because she kicked the anger management teacher in the shins and
punched the old school nurse in the tummy and made
her cry. However, after the security guards tackled
her to the ground and handcuffed her, she began to
  calm down.
Each day she went to her class accompanied by two big security guards to make sure she didn’t bully the staff or beat anybody else up. After one year, Olive had transformed from being the nastiest child on the planet, to one of nature’s sweetest and most
  lovable girls.
Lilirella and Olive were relaxing by the swimming pool when Lilirella said to Olive, “I think
we should take turns at doing each other’s nails and
  hair. What do you think?”
Olive’s eyes lit up at the suggestion because she loved to paint her nails and do her hair. “Hey, what
a great idea! I love it! Yes, let’s do our nails and hair together,” said Olive excitedly. With that, Lilirella called to her servants and bid them, “…bring me all my nail polish collection, nail stickers and bring my curling tongs, combs and gold hair brushes too! Now!” She looked at Olive and the two of them put their hands over their mouths and guffawed and snorted with laughter. Her servants headed off back to the house to collect all the items the girls needed.
Then Olive said, “Lilli, I think we should have
a costume show as well, so that when our hair and nails are looking magnificent, we’ll look fantastic in
our fine clothes and elegant shoes too.
Lilirella thought Olive’s suggestion to have a costume show was brilliant. She loved the idea, and
promptly arranged for her servants to lay out her fine gowns, satin shoes and jewellery so they could dress up once they’d done their hair and nails.
“I’m famished! I could eat a whole elephant on my own”, said Lilirella, her stomach rumbling like an
  angry volcano.
“Me too!” exclaimed Olive, feeling hungerpangs in her tummy. With that, Lilirella called out once more to her servants. “We need snacks immediately! Please
bring us a selection of cheese sticks, nuts and raspberry flavoured unicorn cupcakes.” Both girls looked at each other and rubbed their empty tummies as they thought about how good all their snacks would taste. As they were thinking about this, the first lot of servants were returning with all the things they had asked for so they could do each other’s hair and nails.
It was very exciting. Not long after, the other servants came back with a huge tray of yummy snacks and placed them next to the girls. “Would the young misses care to have some refreshments?” asked Lilirella maid servant. “Yes, we would, Millie, replied Lilli politely. Please bring a selection of our finest soft drinks. My dear friend, Olive would love some blue Coca Cola and we both would like thee cups of pink coke, two cups of blue coke and a cup of raspberry flavoured Cola. Can you also bring two small red umbrellas and some straws so that we can share the drinks?”
After the girls had finished their blue Coke and
all the other drinks and snacks, they began to do their hair and nails.
Lilirella and Olive started on each other’s nails
first. Olive said, “I’ll do your nails first - what
  pictures do you want?”
“I want starry sky design on my nails”, said Lilli.
“Ok, said Olive, I can do that…”。 Olive picked several different colours like light and dark blue, purple and white. Olive had a good sense of colour, and included some glow-in-the-dark turquoise to use as a foundation colour to help make Lilli’s night sky glow in the dark of night. Olive began to paint the base colour on all of Lilli’s nails, and then, one by one, she painted the night sky and stars and galaxy clusters on each fingernail. Her face changed from moment to moment; her lips would purse and pucker, sometimes as she placed very fine stars on the nails, she would peer intently, her tongue just showing a little between her lips at the corner of her mouth.
At other times, as she progressed from finger to finger, Olive would close one eye completely and squint with the other to make sure that every tiny
star was placed exactly where she wanted it be. After a while Lilli’s fingernails started to look amazing. It was as if the heavens had come down to visit her fingers and stay for a while.
Lilli looked at what Olive had done and was completely amazed and overjoyed.
She couldn’t believe how fantastic her fingers looked, and couldn’t wait to see them glow like in the
night like real stars and galaxies when the sun went
  down.
“Wow! That’s amazing, Olive. I didn’t know you could paint that good. You’re an artist and you have made my fingers look exactly like how a princess’s fingers should look!”
Olive was delighted that Lilli loved what she had
created with the nail polish, yet she was very humble
and thanked her best friend for such a kind compliment. Olive’s face lit up, her eyes sparkled
and she had a lovely soft smile on her lips. Once the nail polish on Lilli’s fingers had dried, it was her turn to paint Olive’s fingernails. The first thing she did was to begin to file and buff Olives nails
  so that they looked well-manicured.
Then, she helped Olive choose the nail polish she wanted on her fingers. Olive looked closely at each of the colours and chose a beautiful, rich iridescent shocking pink. It was stunning!
With that, Lilli put cotton wool between each of
Olives fingers and began to paint each nail with slow
deliberation, making sure not to smudge the polish
and to get every stroke even and as perfect as she
  could.
After all, she felt she had to give Olive as good
a nail job as Olive had given her – they were best
  friends forever, after all!
Lilli and Olive took time to sip their blue cola
and admire the terrific job they had each
done on each other’s nails. Their fingers
looked great and the nail polish glistened in
the afternoon sunlight as they sat and talked by the
  pool.
Next on the ‘to do’ list was their hair. The girls
looked through some magazines to get some ideas on
how to do their hair for the Prince’s ball.9
Olive glanced at the table the servants had
placed beside them; it had brushes, combs, hair
pins, clips and ribbons on it.
There was also a good-sized hand mirror and
pair of sharp scissors, though neither of the girls
intended cutting their hair. Instead, they liked the
idea of braiding and styling their hair in creative and
  beautiful ways.
Lilli agreed to go first and to let Olive work her
magic on her hair. Olive put an apron around Lilli’s
neck and had her lean back over a washbasin on a
stand, and began to pour hot water from a jug over
Lilli’s hair. She poured some scented shampoo and
conditioner onto Lilli’s hair and began to massage it
until all her hair was covered in suds.
Then she poured more warm water over Lilli’s
hair to rinse away the suds until all that was left was
shiny, clean hair that smelled of sweet jasmine.
Once Olive had dried her friend’s hair, she wrapped
it up in a towel to soak up the last of the moisture
before starting to braid and style her beautiful locks.10
In her mind she had an idea of how to braid her
friend’s hair. First, she brushed Lilli’s hair until it
was smooth and even. Then she took a comb and
using the tail, separated the hair into different
strands. She held all three strands in one hand and
began weaving them into plaits and braids: weaving
one over the other, around the middle strand of hair.
After a while and with some effort, the result
was quite beautiful. It took about 30 minutes for
Olive to complete her braiding creation.
Then, as an added touch she began to weave a circle
of scented jasmine and small red and white roses
through Lilli’s hair. The result looked very beautiful
and had a traditional Chinese look.
When it was Lilli’s turn, she tied Olive’s hair
into a ponytail and thought for a moment. Olive had
amazing looking golden hair that she usually wore in
a ponytail, but Lilli wanted to do something very
  special for her friend.11
So, she folded the ponytail into a ball, then
divided the ball into two equal, smaller buns. Then
she used hair clips to hold each small bun in place
before turning them into one single bow.
Lilli used her fingers to gather Olive’s golden
hair from one of the small buns and to fan it
out until it looked like half of a bow.
After clipping it in place, she then started to
adjust the second bun and repeated the action until
she had an equally shaped and sized fan on the other
  side.
When she had gathered both parts of the fan
together, she began to weave the ends of both halffans to create one large fan-shaped bow that sat
  magnificently atop Olive’s head.
Lilli used lots of clips to hold her fan creation in
place, ensuring that even if Olive was dancing and
moving about a lot her hair would remain in place.12
The result was beautiful because the bow sat in
the middle of the upper-back of Olive’s hair, adding
beauty and grace to the tumble of long golden tresses
  that flowed down her back.
Lilirella said to Olive, “I think you should wear
this red dress, it's beautiful. I think it’s prettier than
the pink one.” Olive looked at the red dress Lilirella
was holding and her heart leapt for joy.
She clapped her hands together excitedly as
she exclaimed, “It’s the most beautiful dress I’ve
ever seen. Oh, yes! I want to wear it. It’s perfect!”
And with that, she tossed the pink dress back into
  the wardrobe.
Olive took the red satin dress in her hands and
pressed it up to the body.
“Let’s choose your dresses for the Prince’s
  Ball,” Olive said.
“Ok!” said Lilirella, feeling excited. “Let’s go
and choose the most beautiful dresses to wear.”13
They went into the house, where Lilirella took
Olive to see all the beautiful dresses and gowns
hanging in the big walk-in dressing room, in her
  bedroom.
“Wow! There are so many magnificent
dresses here – they are so beautiful and elegant,”
sighed Olive, as she placed her hand over her heart.
“Now, we can try on all the dresses until we find
the ones, we are most satisfied with,” said Lilirella
with a big smile on her face. At last, they picked the
dresses that would be the greatest for themselves.
Olive and Lilirella looked fabulous in the gowns they
  chose.
At first, Olive especially loved the styling of a
cute pink dress she saw. It was long at the back and
  short in the front.
She looked at herself standing in front of the
mirror for a long time, and considered how well the
  dress suited her.14
“Oh, Olive, if you really want to see something
spectacular you have to try on the unbelievably
gorgeous red dress I gave you! It will blow your socks
off!” said Lilirella with a huge grin on her face. She
knew that this was the perfect dress for Olive.
Olive agreed, slipped out of the pink dress and
quickly pulled the red dress over her head and
wriggled into it until it hung perfectly from her
shoulders and fit snugly around her waist. Olive was
  quiet for a long time.
She turned around and made the dress swish
this way and that. She lifted her arms in the air and
tested how well the dress fitted her when she moved.
She couldn’t believe what a perfect fit it was,
or how wonderful the cool, smooth satin felt against
her skin as she moved about. “OMG! This dress is
the best thing I’ve ever seen.
“It feels fantastic on, it fits me perfectly and
looks like a million Yuan covered in diamonds and
gold.” Olive was beside herself with joy and
  excitement.15
“Olive, you have to wear this dress, it’s more
beautiful than the pink one and you look fabulous in
it. It is just perfect for you.” Lilirella said.
Olive looked more closely at her beautiful red
dress. The collar was V-shaped and it had a
charming design at the waist. It had a silver diamondstudded belt that hugged Olives slim waist like a
  circle of bright light.
The dress itself had a big hemline and the material
was very smooth and shiny. “Oh, yes,” said
Lilirella. “I think it’s wonderful,’’ Olive commented,
as she twirled around once more in front of the
  mirror.
I’ve decided I want to wear the red dress to the
Prince’s Ball, Olive said decisively. The cut and
style of the dress made her look slimmer and taller
than before. And when she wore it, she felt more
  confident and elegant.16
Lilirella’s favourite dress was a long, blue lace
dresses with lots of small diamonds decorating the
sleeves and bodice. She added some small white silk
flowers to the edge of collar; it was magnificent
looking, and when she put it on, she looked like a fairy
  in a story.
“Let’s go and find a pair of wonderful shoes
each to match our dresses,” Lilirella said. She then
took Olive to the shoe room. When Olive glanced
into the room, she held her breath because the room
was full of amazingly beautiful shoes.
“How many pairs of shoes do you have in this
room?” Olive asked. After a short while Lilirella
replied, “It’s big enough to hold 500 pairs of shoes,
and I have another room that’s empty so I can buy
some more new shoes and keep them in it.” She said
with a cheeky grin on her face.
“I need to choose a pair of fabulous red shoes
to match my long, elegant red dress,” said Olive.
After looking at all the red shoes in the shoe room,
she chose on a pair of diamond-studded high-heeled
shoes with matching thin ankle straps.17
The girls sat down on a long purple velvet
bench and tried on the magnificent
shoes they had each selected to
see how they fit and how well they
  matched their ball gowns.
Both girls were delighted with the shoes they
picked, agreeing that they were just perfect. Olive
cried out excitedly, "Look at these red shoes, I like
them." She looked at the red shiny shoes again and
said, "Oh my gosh, they match my ball gown
  perfectly.”
“Yes,” said Lilirella. “They are a perfect
match. Now we need to go and find matching
  handbags.”
“Hmm, yes, said Olive in agreement. Then
she asked Lilirella, “Do you think we should pick a
handbag each or maybe something smaller and more
  attractive, like a clutch bag?”18
“Oh my gosh! What a good idea, Olive. I have
a great selection of really cute clutches for us to look
  at.”
Olive clapped her hands together in glee as she
thought about what they might find in Lilirella’s bag
room. “How many bags do you have in your bag
room, Lilli? Asked Olive out of curiosity.
Everywhere she looked she saw different kinds
of bags; big bags, small bags, leather and satin bags,
some bags were adorned with gold or silver trim, but
Lilli’s favourite was a little clutch bag covered in
  small glittering diamonds.
It sat in a glass case on its own and glittered like
the sun as the light hit it. It was absolutely beautiful,
Olive put her hands up to her cheeks, gasped and
was speechless except for a small squeal of delight
that managed to escape her ruby red lips.19
Lilirella smiled a smile of satisfaction, Olive’s
response was exactly what she had hoped for. Then
she answered, “I only have about 1,000 bags in this
room. But, you know, Olive, that little envelope bag
with the diamonds on it is my pride and joy. I am going
to take it to the ball because it really matches and
compliments the blue of my gown.”
Olive found a gorgeous red clutch bag that she
fell in love with. It wasn’t as fancy as Lilirella’s, but
it matched her gown and shoes just as perfectly.
When the girls tried on their dresses, shoes and held
their clutch bags next to their gowns, they each
looked very elegant and swish. Both girls were
delighted with what they had chosen to wear to the
Prince’s Ball. The girls changed from their
exquisite gowns into their everyday clothes
The next day they began their trip into the
woods to see if they could find Miss Charlotte, a
white witch also known as the Godmother Goodie.
Miss Charlotte was now a very old woman, at least
200 years old according to some of the villagers.20
She was said to have once been the governess
of King Frank’s three youngest children long, long
ago. After they and all their children and children’schildren had grown up and lived long lives, she
decided to retire and go deep into the forest and live
out her days alone in the woods.
She was now at one with nature and all the
forest, and the creatures of the forest loved her
dearly. She was kind and gentle and motherly.
Lilirella had read that Miss Charlotte had
helped many of the poor people in the village, as well
as those seeking love and comfort, good health and
prosperity in their life. So, when the girls were
ready, they set off on their journey into the
enchanted forest to find the Godmother Goodie.
Lilirella and Olive each packed a shoulder
bag. They took candles, matches, a ball of string
some turkey sandwiches and a bottle of water, then
set off on their way at 8.30 am into the enchanted
  forest.21
The girls followed a dusty pathway that led
from the bottom of the estate’s large gardens,
crossed two meadows and a paddock full of wheat,
that eventually left them at the start of a small
bridge that took them over a fast-flowing stream to
the edge of the enchanted forest.
The girls saw many little creatures as they
began their journey into the enchanted forest; little
bunnies hopped happily outside their warrens, birds
chirped in the trees, an owl hooted somewhere
  further off in the woods.
Shy squirrels, wood mice and voles could be
heard scampering around in the underbrush and the
girls caught glimpses of them as they moved through
the long grass and into the hedgerow.
They continued their journey, and after about
ten minutes came to a small clearing where they
could see the forest that lay ahead them. The trees
were taller and grew more densely as they looked to
  the distance.
